KM Community Ed presents ‘Christmas Carol’

Last week 47 children in the community dedicated a week of learning and rehearsing as they got ready for performances of the ‘Christmas Carol’ which was performed last Friday and Saturday.
The production began last Monday with auditions for each part, with at least one role being guaranteed to everyone who tried out.
While the performances were held once again in the state of the art MN WiFi Performing Arts Center, it was a little bit of a different type as it was ran by  Prairie Fire Children's Theatre  who specialize in community theater performances like the one last week.
KM Community Ed Performing Arts and Recreation Coordinator, Katie Schroden, explained that they called around to different Community Ed groups in the area to learn more about the group and they realized that they would be a good fit for them.
“We heard nothing but good things about the group so we decided to go with them,” said Schroden.
While the Community Ed normally has their productions in the summer time they decided to do something this year a little differently by also having one in the winter.
With Christmas in Kasson and Olde Fashioned Christmas in Mantorville happening the same weekend as well they knew it would be a great way to kick off the events and add another event to the celebration as well.
Schroden explained  that with the excitement in the community from the all school performance of Beauty and The Beast it would also be a good way to continue that momentum.
That was exactly the case.
“We were able to include a lot of people from each age group so it’s really exciting,” said Schroden.
Overall Schroden said that she is excited to be able to bring in new things for the community especially in Performing Arts and provide plenty of opportunities for the community.
“It’s really fun for me to bring in things  that we haven’t done before,” Schroden said, “it’s really nice for the  community and students to have plenty of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities,” she added.
