Helping a family displaced by fire

The Young Riders and Ripley 4-H clubs joined forces with the Dodge Center American Legion last week to help out a Dodge Center family that lost their home in a fire on Jan. 6.
The Legion serves burgers every Thursday night and last week the two 4-H Clubs were on hand to provide ice cream sundaes to all who attended for a free will donation. The clubs were also accepting donations for the family and were selling a number of auction items.
The Brad Aarsvold family has been involved with both the Young Riders and the Ripley Believe-It-Or-Nots, said Rebecca Burt, leader of the Ripley Club. Members of both clubs wanted to help the family, she said, and the Legion had agreed to let them use its burger night as a means to raise funds.
The two clubs, Burt said, wanted to thank the Legion for allowing them to use their space.
