Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy wins first game
The Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy girls basketball team won its first game as a co-op, beating Faribault Bethlehem Academy58-43.
Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy was down 5-0 to start the game, before going on a 15-0 run, and never trailed in the game again.
“It was fun to see the girls get their first win together. We still have a long way to go as we blend the two programs into one, but each day we are trying to get a little bit better than the day before,” Head Coach Kasey Krekling said after the game. “The girls have been working extremely hard and it was nice to see that hard work payoff with a win tonight.”
For Hayfield Maggie Hansen had 11 points, Jenna Christopherson had 10 points, Kenna Rutledge had two points, Avi Alexander had four points, Betsy Gillette had 7 points, Maddie Buehler had 2 points, Lily Morrisey had 17 points, and Frieda Rutz had five points in the win.
