Have We Forgotten?

Have we forgotten Thanksgiving?
The holiday of giving thanks?
Or is the snow putting us in the mood
Of tinsel, lights and Santas?
 
Have we Forgotten Thanksgiving?
Do we take time to thank God?
Are we thankful for
family and friends
And our gifts from
 
Heaven above?
Have we put up of our lawn sign
That says
“Happy Thanksgiving to All”
With a turkey and feathers
Or is it a sign of “Merry
Christmas to All?”
 
Where are all the decorations
Of Thanksgiving in the stores?
Where can we find the Pilgrims
Indian Corn, candles and more?
Are we a society that has
Gone from Halloween to Christmas
And not given a second thought to
The Traditional Thanksgiving story?
 
So where has Thanksgiving gone?
It is still on the calendar.
Can it still be deep inside
Of every one of us?
 
Let us take time to STOP.
STOP and thank God
For what we have
STOP and thank those around us
And wish everyone some Thanksgiving cheer.
