God was looking out for me

My parents have told me the story of what happened after the neurosurgeon was finally called. He had me taken immediately to the operating room for surgery to reduce pressure on my brain.
After the operation, the surgeon met with Mom and Larry to explain what had happened. He had taken off a piece of my skull about the size of an elongated softball and was storing it in refrigeration. He said it would be replaced after my brain swelling had gone down.
The surgeon said the prognoses was not good because of the severity of my injuries and the delay in getting me to surgery.
I was sent to a recovery area and then to the Intensive Care Unit, where I remained for almost five weeks.
While I was in the ICU, I was in a coma all the time. I could not talk or do anything. I was on a respirator and had tubes and hoses helping me breathe and feeding me.
At first Mom and Larry stayed with my brother Jon in Minneapolis.  Jon is a lawyer and had a roommate who was blind. Another friend of Jon’s also provided them with a place to stay.
My brother David stayed with his friend Ryan.
People back in Sleepy Eye really helped us a lot. Larry and I had been building a 28 x 40-foot addition on our house. We had completed the foundation and had it framed in and ready for roofing when I had my accident. Friends and strangers took over, roofed and sided the addition.  God was really looking out for me.
