Girls basketball action continues in area schools

Lady basketball Bears fall to Jaguars
JORDAN — On Monday, January 22, the Byron girls basketball team traveled to Jordan and took on the Jaguars. It was a good battle between a pair of good teams, but the Jags edged the Lady Bears by a 69-65 final tally. The 13-3 Byron girls next meet up with Rochester Lourdes on Monday, January 29, at Lourdes High School, 7:15 p.m.

Lady Bears win 2
On Thursday, January 18, Lourdes girls had their nine-game winning streak snapped, thanks to the Byron bucket girls. Topping the Eagles, 54-39, the Lady Bears moved its overall record to 11-2. Saturday saw the Byron kids defeat Kasson-Mantorville, 61-52, at the Rochester Mayo Civic Arena — HVL/TRC Showdown.

K-M bucket girls split the weekend
It was a busy weekend for the Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team. On Friday, January 19, the girls bested a good Lake City bunch, 57-53, at Lake City HS. Saturday saw the Lady KoMets battle the Byron Bears at the Mayo Civic Arena — HVL/TRC Showdown. It was Byron who emerged victorious, with a 61-52 final tally.

It was a clean sweep for the Hayfield girls basketball team. On Tuesday, January 16, the Vikings turned away Triton with a 68-49 victory. Friday, Triton toppled United South Central by a final tally of 79-27.

TRITON — Within the friendly confines, the Triton girls basketball team encountered an aggressive Randolph squad, on Monday, January 22. It was the Rockets who emerged victorious, by a slim 53-48 margin. Next up for the 7-9 Lady Cobras is a date with Medford, Friday, January 26, at Medford HS, 7:15 p.m.

TRITON — The Triton ladies basketball team played a split decision last week. On Tuesday, January 16, they lost to a formidable Hayfield team, 68-49. Thursday saw the Cobras top Maple River, 49-37, at Triton High School.
