Fire destroys Kasson business building

Kasson Fire Department responded Tuesday morning at 1:45 a.m. to a fire at 701 8th St. SE, Kasson, where a building was found to be engulfed in flames. Firefighters from Dodge Center Fire, Dodge Center Ambulance, Kasson Police and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
The building was not occupied at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured. The property did not have a fire sprinkler system.
The fire was extinguished as of 9:40 a.m. The building is a total loss and three businesses, Bigelow Painting, KA Moe & Associates Accounting and Deraad Overhead Door, have been displaced by the fire.
The state Fire Marshal Division, with the assistance of Kasson police, is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
