Empty Chair

Do you ever wonder why holidays make you sad?
Do you ever wonder like me?
Do you see the empty chair, because no one’s there.
Do you ever wonder like me?

Sometimes, it’s just the simple things like a song, or a smell in the air.
It’s alright to shed a tear, because they’re not here.
It shows just how much you care.

So go ahead, and picture them in their favorite chair.
Have a toast, to those who aren’t there.
It’s the promise of Jesus that gets us through the holidays.
So one day they’ll never be an empty chair.

I try to stay busy this time of year.
But my mind will wander away.
Back to the days when we were all here,
Now your memories are all here to stay.

Just because I can’t hold you doesn’t mean you’re not here.
Don’t need a picture because my heart sees you clearly.
Tho you’ll be home for Christmas in the heaven’s up there,
I’ll still picture you in your favorite chair.
