Donald Ross Jones, 107, formerly of Kasson
Donald Ross Jones, 107, of Stillwater, Minn., formerly of Kasson, Minn., passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society in Stillwater, Minn.
Don was born in Ripley Township in Dodge County on Nov. 22, 1918, to Walter and Anna Jones. He finished 8th grade and then worked as a hired hand at local farms. Don joined the U.S. Army in February 1941, and served with the 439 Signal Battalion until his discharge in October of 1945. He was in combat for 39 months, participating in five invasions: North Africa, Sicily, Salerno, Anzio in Italy, and Southern France, finishing in Germany.
After the service he returned to work on his dad's farm. Don married Mildred (Millie) Jones and had two daughters, Diane and Marilyn. They purchased her parents’ farm and farmed until Don retired in 1978. After retirement, Don and Millie moved to Kasson and spent time at their cabin on Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoying the outdoors.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jones; daughter, Diane; brother, Robert; sister, Virgina; great-grandson, Aidan Berg; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Agrimson.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Tom) Agrimson; grandsons, Eric (Jessica) Berg and Joshua (Kim) Agrimson; granddaughters, Jennifer Scheeler and Melissa (Tim) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Avery, Noah, Case, Adelynne, Drew, Liam, and Isla.
A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 68905 280th Ave in Kasson, Minn., with Pastor Pete Wyttenbach and Pastor Jeff Bernards officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the church. Interment will be in South Zumbro Lutheran Cemetery in Kasson, Minn. with military honors provided by the Kasson American Legion Post 333.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to South Zumbro Lutheran Church or charity of their choice.
