Dodge County Board transfers land to Rochester Habitat for Mantorville home

Dodge County commissioners have agreed to transfer a parcel of land owned by the county in Mantorville to the Rochester Habitat for Humanity for the newest habitat-built home in the county.
The land transfer was approved at last week’s County Board meeting.
Rochester Habitat for Humanity officials had approached the board late last year and asked if the county would consider donating the parcel at 20 7th St. East, in Mantorville. At that time board members indicated they would look favorably on the donation but that the group would need to present their request to the county’s Economic Development Authority for its approval before the commissioners could act.
Habitat for Humanity met with the EDA Dec. 16 and that group approved the transfer saying the proposed Habitat home fits the proper use of the lot. The EDA voted to request the County Board to approve the transfer from the EDA to Habitat at no cost apart from the costs associated with administration, taxes, fees, services and other expenses related to the closing. Rochester Habitat will be responsible for paying all closing costs.
