The K-M FFA walked a couple of picked corn fields and were able to make a little extra money. They collected 47 bushels of corn and received over $7 a bushel at the elevator. FFA advisor Lori Pagel said they received a check for over $300, which was nearly enough to pay for the 100 sack lunches they delivered to area farmers in the field a week earlier.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed a segment of Highway #57 near the K-M High School, beginning Monday, October 14. A roadway segment caved in recently while utility crews were tunneling under the highway. Crews were expected to close Highway #57 at 16th Street NE beginning at 9 a.m. Monday. They were asked to begin after the morning school traffic settled down. K-M Superintendent Mike Smith said he was going to contact MnDOT and ask if the contractor could begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday. By delaying the project one day, that would leave only one day of busy school traffic while school was in session. School is scheduled for an early out at 1 p.m. Tuesday and will not be in session the rest of the week. The work is expected to be finished by Friday, October 18. Traffic between Kasson and Mantorville will be detoured via Dodge County Road 34, County Road 21 (8th Avenue N.W., Kasson) and County Road 12.
