Byron girls’ soccer advances

Byron soccer girls take down KoMets
EYOTA — It was a matchup between a couple of friendly foe powerhouses on the soaked Eyota pitch last Thursday, October 12, and the Section 1-2A semifinal game featured a third party into the action…Mother Nature.
But No. 2 seed Byron handled the rain, wind and the game being moved from its home field to Eyota, just well enough. The Bears used a pair of goals by Marissa Ellavsky, both of them assisted by Leah Ellavasky, to beat No. 3 seed Kasson-Mantorville 2-0.
Byron is ranked sixth and moved to 15-2-1 overall. The Bears were scheduled to play in the Section 1, 2A title match, on Tuesday at Kasson.
K-M soccer girls win 1, lose 1
The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team defeated Red Wing, 5-0, on Tuesday, October 10, in Section 1AA quarterfinal action. KoMets: Goals: Delaney Awe (2), Arabella Knudson (1), Makenzie Carrier (1), Karianna Melcher (1); Assists: Erin Carter (1), Ava Threinen (1), Karianna Melcher (1); Saves: Kiley Meyer (3).
On Thursday, October 12, K-M battled the Byron Lady Bears and Mother Nature, in the 1AA semifinal round, played at Eyota. It was a matchup between a couple of friendly foe powerhouses on the soaked Eyota pitch in the semifinal playoff game. The No. 2 seed Byron Bears used a pair of goals by Marissa Ellavsky, both of them assisted by Leah Ellavasky, to beat No. 3 seed Kasson-Mantorville, 2-0.
TKWH soccer girls end their season
The Triton/Kenyon-Wanamingo/Hayfield girls soccer team was triumphant, by a 1-0 final tally, over Windom/St. James, in a Monday, October 9,play-in game for the Section 2A girls soccer tournament. Triton/Kenyon-Wanamingo/Hayfield: Gigi Lundi, 1 goal. Goalie Alyssa Knudson had 9 saves. That victory earned the girls a right to battle Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday, October 12 in the Section 2A quarterfinal round.
PIZM defeated TKWH, 6-0. Triton/Kenyon-Wanamingo/Hayfield: Goalie Miley Dostal had 17 saves. PIZM Stats: Izzy Johnson, 1 goal; Caroline Sems, 1 goal, 2 assists; Evy Skierka, 1 assist; Olivia Wiggins, 2 goals, 2 assists; Ellie Hoffarth, 1 goal, 1 assist; Brooklyn Kelley, 1 goal.
