Area girls’ soccer teams end regular season
The Lady Bears soccer team closed the lid on its regular season schedule with a pair of wins, and moved to a sparkling 13-2-1 overall record. On Monday, October 2, the girls swamped Waseca, 5-0, and they followed that with a Thursday victory over Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa, 6-1.
Waseca Game: Byron: Marissa Ellavsky, 1 goal; Paige Halder, 1 goal, 1 assist; Payton Satzke, 3 assists; Carly Halder, 1 assist; Ashlyn Rogne, 2 goals; Alyse Ayen, 1 goal.
PIZM Game: Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa: Olivia Wiggins, 1 goal; Audrie Simpson, 1 assist. Goalie Ava Knott had 2 saves. Byron: Ashlee Felten, 1 assist; Paige Halder, 3 goals, 1 assist; Kelly Amberg, 1 goal; Payton Benassi, 1 goal; Ashlyn Rogne, 1 goal, 1 assist. Goalie Cadence Loughran, 3 saves.
K-M girls finish regular season with tie
The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team put a cap on regular season play, with a 1-1 draw versus Winona Cotter, on Saturday, October 7. Earlier in the week, the KoMets fell to Lourdes, 1-3. The K-M kids bring a very respectable 8-4-3 overall record to the impending playoffs.
Lourdes Game: Becca Cook scored a pair of goals and Rose Otto netted the other as Lourdes defeated the KoMets in Thursday action. Kasson-Mantorville: Delaney Awe, one goal; Kylie Meyer had 15 saves, facing 12 shots on goal.
Winona Cotter Game: 1-1 final score; Arabella Knudson had one goal and Makenize Carrier had the assist. Kylie Meyer had 8.
TKWH girls close with busy schedule
Playing four games in six days is one huge task, and that is just what the Triton/Kenyon-Wanamingo/Hayfield girls soccer team did. On Monday, October 2, the girls lost to Stewartville, 0-2, and on Tuesday, TKWH was edged, 1-2, by Tri-City United. Thursday’s action resulted in a 0-5 loss to Winona Cotter, and Saturday saw the Triton/K-W/H kids fall to La Crescent-Hokah, 0-8.
TKWH ended its 2023 campaign with a 0-12-4 overall record.
