Kasson Assured Four Lane By Dist. Engineer
District Highway Engineer Robert McDonald assured a group of interested citizens at a meeting in Dodge Center Monday night that the four lane construction of Highway 14 is definitely scheduled for 1975. Mr. McDonald also told the group that Highway 14 between Kasson and Dodge Center will be resurfaced with an overlay next year.
Senator Mel Frederick had arranged the meeting between the highway representatives and members of the Highway 14 Committee with Dodge Center Mayor Leonard Talcott serving as host.

Lions Club to again sponsor sandbox fill
The K-M Lions Club will once again be conducting a sandbox fill this spring. The Lions will be delivering sand in a one-mile radius of Kasson and Mantorville Monday, May 9 through Wednesday, May 11.
The washed sand is being supplied by Stussey Construction and will be delivered for $3 a wheelbarrow load. There is a coupon in this edition of the newspaper that can be filled out and mailed to P.O. Box 121, Kasson, MN 55944 or contact Richard Hanenberger Sr. At 365-8218, Richard Hanenberger Jr. 634-4946 or Wayne Hendrickson 634-7047.
All funds collected by the K-M Lions will be used for community service projects.

K-M Music Dept. Attends MENC Conf.
The K-M Music Department recently returned to Class at Kasson-Mantorville schools after attending the 2004 National Biennial Conference of MENC:
The National Association for Music Education.
Liz Harwood, Sue Jystad, Mike O’Neill, Nathan Davidson, Clark and Nancy Johnson were among the thousands of music educators who convened in Minneapolis April 14-18 to experience sessions, workshops, performances and the “Music and Sound Expo” produced by NAMM, the International Music Products Association. Highlights included an opening gala concert by St. Olaf College, and evening concerts by the Grammy award winning Ramsey Lewis Trio, Emmy award winner Gordon Goodwin and his Big Phat Band, and Tony and Grammy award winner Jerry Herman, composer of such Broadway musicals as Mame and Hello Dolly! Keynote presentations were made by world-renowned flutist Sie James Galway and Garrison Keillor, host of “A Prairie Home companion.”

K-M basketball news
K-M boys basketball assistant coach Terry Pederson was one of six assistant coaches for all classes named 2013-14 Assistant Coach of the Year. The award was made by the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association.
Terry completed his fifth year as an assistant, this past year under first year K-M head coach Kelly Raymond.
The other assistant coaches selected were Todd Anderson (Minneapolis DeLaSalle), Jeff Butorae (Burnsville), Jon Miller (Shakopee), Jack Negen (Robbinsdale Armstrong) and Pierre Stencel (United South Central).
K-M sophomore Braxton Raymond played in the 40 team Commets Shootout 162 last weekend in St. Cloud. Braxton plays on the Minnesota Fury Elite team that made the final four and lost to the eventual champion by three points.
In the semi-final game Braxton hit six three-pointers and scored 20 points. Braxton was one of five players named first team all-tournament.
