Torkelson picked to fill Kasson council seat

In a less than five minute emergency special meeting Tuesday, the Kasson City Council unanimously approved Sheldon Torkelson to fill the council vacancy until November.
The opening came following the abrupt resignation of Brian Wempner, who moved out of city limits.
Along with Torkelson, the other candidate was Johan Marsland.
Mayor Dan Eggler interviewed both candidates and recommended Torkelson.
He will take the seat until November 2026, when there will be a special election along with the regular election.
Torkelson is a member of the city’s Planning and Zoning Board and previously served as a council member.
