KM girls basketball falls short to Mankato West

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team fell short in a matchup with Mankato West earlier this week, losing 81-52.
Taya Threinen notched 13 points, Josie Finley scored 11 points, and Lauren Schaefer added 12 points in the loss.

The Byron and Kasson-Mantorville football teams are set to face off in the Section 1AAA championship game Friday with a trip to the state tournament on the line.

Baumbach earns AA Coach of the Year Award

Byron High School 1998 graduate Jeremy Baumbach brought home some hardware last week after winning the Class AA Girls Soccer Coach of the Year Award.
“Winning the Class AA Coach of the Year award is an incredible honor, and I want to sincerely thank the Coaches Association for the recognition,” Baumbach said.
But he also sees the success as a team accomplishment, more than an individual award.

KoMeTs pick up road wins

The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton KoMeTs defeated  Winona last week 3-1 in a road matchup. 
Cooper Bebee had two goals in the win, and Sawyer Bendickson had a  goal.  
Goalie Brady Voss  had eight saves in the win. The KoMeTs also defeated  Red Wing  2-0 in a road matchup. 
Bebee had a goal and an assist, Bendickson had a goal. 
Voss  had an assist while making five saves in the win. 

Byron defeats Goodhue

The Byron volleyball team defeated Goodhue last week 3-1. 
Maryn Radke finished the game with four aces, five digs, and 15 set assists. Zoe Dearborn lead the team with five aces, 11 digs, and 10 kills, and a block. Mackenzie Steele added four aces, eight digs, and 15 set assists, and Ella Brennan and Kaydence Fjerstad each had an ace in the game. 

10th annual epilepsy awareness fundraiser set for Sept. 27

The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer program will once again host its epilepsy awareness and fundraiser event on Sept. 27.
The event, which is in its 10th year, was created to honor Hannah Soderberg, the daughter of former coach Chris Soderberg.
She has lived with epilepsy since she was five.

Essig gets 1,000th career set assist

It was a milestone game last week for the Triton volleyball squad. 
Not only did the team win in three sets against  Plainview-Elgin-Millville, but Reagan Essig picked up her 1,000th career set assist in set three. She ended the game with 27 assists, five digs, and two aces
