Area gymnasts compete  at state

Area athletes competed at the state gymnastics meet last weekend.
Sydney Portner finished eighth in the all-around and seventh on vault. She also finished 10th on beam and floor.
Olivia O’Brien finished 17th in the all-around and ninth on vault.
Eleanor Smith finished fourth on the beam for Kasson-Mantorville/Triton/Stewartville.

Wildcats finish third at state

The Dodge County girls hockey team started off the Class A State Tournament last week the same way the tournament ended: with an overtime victory.
The Wildcats first faced off against Proctor/Hermantown. Maysie Koch scored in the first period, followed by Daisy Harens, who knocked in a goal during the second.

Westfield struck down in semis

Westfield wrestling saw its team season come to a close last weekend after losing its semifinal round dual against Kenyon-Wanamingo 51-12.
The Razorbacks looked sharp in their prior outing when the team beat Blue Earth Area (BEA) 38-25, but the Knights were ready for everything Westfield threw at them.

Byron defeats KoMets


The Byron girls basketball team defeated Kasson-Mantorville last week 84-43.
Avery Rossow led the team with 19 points. Alyse Ayen had 11 points, as did Zoe Coleman.
Kayla Stork had 10 points, Raegan Kelm had eight points, Ashlyn Kelm and Peyton Steele each contributed six.
Cambria Daily and Ella Nelson added four points, Mara Booth had three points, and Taylor Meyer had two points in the win.

Byron falls short on senior night

The Byron boys basketball team fell short to Lake City 79-67 on its senior night.
The Kasson-Mantorville boys basketball team also defeated Byron last week, 72-57.
No stats were provided for either game.

Byron gymnastics  finishes second at Section meet

The Byron gymnastics team fell just short in its quest for another trip to state, after coming in second at the Section 1AA meet.
Winona/Cotter finished with 141.375 points, Byron with 140.675, and Kasson-Mantorville/Triton/Stewartville with 135 points.
In the all-around, Eleanor Smith came in second for the KoMeTS, and Syndey Portner came in third.
