KMES recognized as champion of positive school culture, student behavior
Kasson-Mantorville Elementary School was one of 97 schools across the State recognized by the Minnesota Department of Education for its sustained commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
Additionally, MDE recognizes nine districts for districtwide efforts. These schools and districts have demonstrated exceptional leadership in increasing student achievement, improving school climate, and engaging in the community.
PBIS is an evidence-based framework grounded in providing instruction and support for positive and cooperative behaviors, and supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students.
For over two decades, Minnesota schools and districts have embedded PBIS into their strategy to create positive and supportive learning environments. This year’s honorees exemplify the dedication and perseverance required to implement and sustain PBIS practices over time. PBIS improves student outcomes, reduces disciplinary incidents, and increases student engagement.
