KM students do well at state FCCLA leadership event
The Kasson-Mantorville High School FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) chapter earned the Outstanding Chapter Award at the recent annual State Leadership Conference in Bloomington.
In addition, Brynlee Schawanke was recognized as one of five Ultimate Leaders in Minnesota FCCLA.
The 73 local students joined nearly 700 members from across Minnesota at the conference.
Kasson-Mantorville was also well represented at the state level, with three students serving as state officers this year: Delia Alberts, Raya Olson and Oliver Powell. These students played an important role in planning and leading workshops throughout the conference.
Alberts and Olson were also selected to represent Minnesota FCCLA as National Officer Candidates at the National Leadership Meeting in Washington, D.C., this July.
Conference attendees participated in a variety of workshops focused on communication, leadership development and officer training. Highlights of the event included a formal dinner, interactive sessions like Just Dance, and opportunities to connect with members from across the state. STAR Events participants also showcased their hard work and dedication through competitive events.
The conference featured a variety of sessions, including Healthy Habits, Find Your Fit, Mission Career Ready, and Mission Possible. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from speakers, including FCCLA National Officer Tennyson Elrod-Sperrs, Patrick T. Grady, Melissa Hager, and First Lady Gwen Walz.
Throughout the three-day event, students participated in student-led workshops, leadership sessions and the installation of newly elected state officers.
Kasson-Mantorville FCCLA members had much to celebrate, with several students elected to leadership positions:
Minnesota State Vice President of Service — Emma Matzek
