Kenyon-Wanamingo students named to Honor Choirs

Five students at Kenyon-Wanamingo Middle School have been selected for the Minnesota 7th and 8th Grade Boys’ and Girls’ Honors Choirs. The selections were made by the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota.
Students selected included Tate Erlandson, Daniel Cruz and John Helland. Seventh graders were Clay Stevenson and McKenzie Clemons.
One hundred forty girls and 140 boys were selected from throughout Minnesota.
For their audition, each of the students prepared a vocal solo and scale which were recorded and submitted online. The auditions were “blind” as the judges did not know either the students’ names or the schools they attended.
The Girls’ Choir will be directed by Kari Gilbertson who is the director of choirs at Lake Highlands High School in Richardson, Texas. Directing the Boys’ Choir will be Clint Pianalto, director of choirs at Hellstern Middle School in Springdale, Arkansas.
