Good Neighbor Days begins July 16

Byron’s Good Neighbor Days arrives July 16-19, bringing a slew of events from art contests to garage sales to food trucks and much, much more.
 

Thursday
The annual medallion hunt begins at 7 a.m. July 16, with clues posted to Facebook. Remember the medallion will only be hidden on public property and seekers will not need to dig or deface property to find it.
At 4 p.m., the driveway art contest signup opens online.
Byron United Methodist Church is hosting a Mexican Fiesta Meal. The meal is free to attend but costs $15 for takeout. Proceeds will be used to help start a free community meal ministry.
At 5:30 p.m. is the Hometown Heroes celebration, allowing residents to gather with first responders.
The escape challenge puzzle hunt begins at 6 p.m. All locations for the puzzle hunt will be in Byron; the event is free to enter. Last year’s winner finished in just over one hour.
The summer fun concert begins at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the band Honky Tonk Happy Hour until 8:30 p.m. at the Byron Community Recreation Center (BCRC).
 

Friday
Friday kicks off at 10 a.m. with the golf tournament at Oak Summit Golf Course.
Food trucks will be at the BCRC from 4:30-9:30 p.m. with the big truck fair also beginning at the BCRC at 4:30 p.m.
The 2026 kickball tournament will begin at 5 p.m. Friday night. This year’s league will feature both a high school and adult league, with teams of at least eight players — four of which must be girls. Games will be 45 minutes long or seven innings, whichever comes first.
The recreational pickleball tournament runs from 5-8 p.m.
The beersbee tournament will begin at 6 p.m. at Bears Den, with signups onsite. Entry for the tournament is $30.
At 7 p.m. is the alumni soccer game at the Byron High School stadium field. No pre-registration is required.
Also at 7 p.m. is family Bingo at the American Legion.
Fireworks on Friday will occur around 10 p.m. depending on conditions. Fireworks are provided by the Byron youth football association.
 

Saturday
Saturday’s festivities begin at 8 a.m. with the 5k and 2-mile run. Registration costs $40. At 9:15 a.m. is the free kids mile and at 10:30 a.m. is the donut run, where runners eat donuts along a 2-mile course with each donut reducing that runner’s time overall.
The Bears Den hosts breakfast and horse races at 8:30 a.m. Horse races begin at 9:30 a.m. which is an 18+ event.
The 6th annual art fair runs from 9 a.m. -4 p.m. in two blocks on 4th St NW.
The competitive pickleball tournament begins at 9 a.m.
The historical society is hosting an open house beginning 
at 9 a.m.
At noon, the Byron American Legion is hosting a beanbag tournament. Registration is due at 11 a.m. and costs $20 for each team of two.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is family fun day, which features food trucks, games, a petting zoo, vendor fair, toddler town and inflatables.
Christ Lutheran Church is giving out free ice cream at 2 p.m.
The nothing but net challenge runs 2-4 p.m. at Valley View Park. Registration costs $5 per round with age groups from K-2nd grade up to 40+. All proceeds will be donated to Byron Basketball for the HUDL subscription.
The Fireman’s Dance begins at 8 p.m. featuring band Local Hooligans. The event costs $10 at the door. Attendees must be 21 or older. The event ends at 1 a.m.
 

Sunday
At 9:30 on Sunday, BCRC is hosting an outdoor worship service.
The 2026 Good Neighbor Days Parade begins at 2 p.m. at the Intermediate school entrance to 4th St travelling west to the Byron Middle School. Parade lineup begins at 12:30 in the school parking lot.
