County Truth in Taxation meeting set Thursday

Dodge County will hold its annual Truth in Taxation public hearing on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. in the County Commissioners meeting room in Mantorville.
The public hearing will be for the preliminary budget and 6.9% levy increase adopted in September, according to County Administrator Jim Elmquist. Those amounts were presented on the Truth in Taxation notices mailed to residents several weeks ago, he said.
Elmquist said Finance Director Kevin Venenga will recommend a final levy increase that commissioners discussed at their last meeting in November. The 5.7% levy increase reflects a drop of 2.1% from the preliminary number.
After a presentation, Elmquist said, a statutory public hearing that was advertised on the TNT notices will take place.
The board will then consider the 2026 Certified Budget Resolution and final levy. The total budget for 2026 expenditures will be $39,264,617. The final net tax levy will amount to $18,967,236.
