Circus comes to stage at K-M

The Kasson-Mantorville High School Drama Department is excited to present its 2019 One Act Play Competition show, Everyman in the Circus of Life, adapted by Travis Tyre. A free performance will be given on Friday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Minnesota WiFi Performing Arts Center at KMHS.
Prepared as the school’s entry into the Minnesota State High School League’s One Act Play competition for 2019, Everyman is a contemporary  retelling of the “Everyman” morality tales of the medieval era. Travis Tyre’s adaptation sets the story in the modern world of the circus.  The age-old characters are transformed into modern beings – for example, Death is now the circus’ Ringmaster – but the play continues to explore its traditional theme: in the end, who will stand with Everyman in his hour of reckoning?
Directed by Melisa Ferris with student assistant director Ellie Paynter, the show features the acting talents of Annie Buresh, Keana Meneses, Chelsea Pierick, Carson Abbott, Dane Holmes, Cassie Gasser, Gabby Thomas, Maddy Larsen, Justin Klepel, Aaron Bronk, Gabrielle Alvarado, Hannah Brumfield, Peyton Wolf, and Rachel Tuma, with understudy and stage crew help from Lydia Gillis, Ellie Paynter, Julia Christenson,  Alex Buresh, and Aubrey Zea, and the stage crew talents of Matthew O’Brien.
Admission to this performance is free and open to all ages; donations to the KMHS Drama Booster Club are welcome. Because this is a state One- Act play competition show, the entire running time for the performance is 35 minutes. Tickets are not required for this production, and all seating will be general admission on a first come basis.
