BHS names new AD, assistant principal

Byron Public Schools have announced the hiring of two new building leaders at Byron High School. 
The moves came after former high school principal Steve Willman resigned at the end of the school year  to take a new position in Rochester. 
With the opening of high school principal, the district hired within naming Malia Schroeder, as the high school principal to replace Willman. Schroeder previously served under Willman as the assistant high school principal and activities director. 
Replacing Schroeder as assistant principal is Josh Burton, who Superintendent Joey Page says will be a great addition to the team, noting that he brings a team-centered leadership style with him into the position. 
“Josh Burton has been selected as the new assistant principal of Byron High School.  Burton will bring his team-centered leadership style to his administrative role at Byron High School.  He is a strong instructional leader who will complement the important work of the Profile of a Graduate.  Burton leads by example and pushes for student learning and success,” Page wrote in an email. 
Replacing Schroeder as activities director will be a familiar face to the HVL, as Jon Buchanan will be coming to Byron after teaching in the Kasson-Mantorville School District for over 20 years. 
“Byron Public Schools is happy to announce that Jon Buchanan has been selected as the new Activities Director.  Buchanan comes to Byron after teaching in KM school district for over 20 years,” Page said in an email. “He has made a significant impact on the lives of many students and involvement in a multitude of activities speaks to his commitment to excellence.  Principal Malia Schroeder is excited to have Buchanan lead the activities department and looks forward to his enthusiasm, organization, and leadership.”
