Triton defeats Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy

With just two seconds on the clock, Triton’s Rainey Dobbs scored a last second bucket, on an inbound pass to lead Triton to a 65-63 victory over Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy last week, to improve to 13-2.

“This was a tough loss as we played right with a very good team and to see a shot go in like that to end the game was gut wrenching,” Hayfield Head Coach Kasey Krekling said following the game. “We need to find a way to finish off these close games with a win.”

The Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy girls basketball team defeated United South Central 77-47 last week.

“We played some tremendous team basketball on both sides of the court tonight. It was nice to see everyone get involved,” Krekling said after the game.

Hayfield/SA fell to 8-8 to end the week after falling to sixth ranked Caledonia 68-24.

“Caledonia was better than us in all facets of the game tonight,” Krekling said after the game. “There is a reason they are one of the best teams in the state in class AA.”

Hayfield/SA was without senior captain and starting guard Gabby Buehler, who missed the game due to illness.

Hansen had three points, Christopherson had two points, Alexander had one point,

Gillette had seven points, Morrisey had eight points, and Rutz had three points.
