One-Man Show Presented by M. Fredrickson

With the closing of the school year is also brought the end to the senior high Art II and III one-man shows that have been displayed at various business places in the two communities.

Marilyn Fredrickson art instructor of the students who were required to display one-man shows, now has her own show in the window of Leuthold-Parkin.

Marilyn states “It has been a rewarding year for me to share with the people in the Kasson and Mantorville communities what I have been instructing in my art classes. Your many letters and verbal responses to my students and myself are very complimentary and it makes us feel our talent and effort are appreciated.

I would like to take this means of expressing my thanks to the following business places who were inconvenienced in some way: Suzy’s Shoppe and Gallery, Leuthold-Parkin, Kasson Drug Leuthold-Fencl.

In my show I am displaying my quilt and pillows that I made. Each block (starting with the two pillows) represents parts of my life. The pillows and the first row (left to right) introduces me and my family. Row two illustrates events in my life; row three my award and hobbies; row four my likes, row five my pets, row six, events in my life. It took a total of 247 hours to make my quilt and pillows.

Other items in the window that I made are the cradle with hand carved designs, Holly Hobby Doll, and a door-stop hen.”

Give blood with the American Red Cross and help maintain the summer blood supply

The American Red Cross encourages eligible blood donors to make and keep donation appointments to maintain the summer blood supply and help prevent a shortage. Donors of all blood types are currently needed, especially those with type O negative, B negative and A negative.

While the need for blood remains constant during the summer, donations drop. Between June and August, on average, two fewer donors give blood at each Red Cross blood drive than what hospitals need. This seasonal decline could be overcome if just two additional donors — above what is expected — give blood at each Red Cross blood drive this summer.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. Recently, a patient needed 79 blood products after injuries sustained during a car accident. Thanks to blood donors who gave in the days and weeks prior, blood products were readily available for this patient and thousands of others at approximately 2,700 hospitals and thousands of others at approximately 2,700 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country supported by the Red Cross.

This summer, there are 100 chances to give hope with the ed Cross by giving blood. Visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to learn more and make an appointment.
