Can we celebrate one holiday at a time?

Is it just me or are we celebrating Christmas earlier and earlier every year?
No, I am not a Scrooge, as one of my friends called me after I brought this up. I actually love Christmas and the Christmas season as much as anyone else.
But I also want to enjoy Halloween first, nevermind Thanksgiving.
I first noticed Christmas was already here when we were looking for Halloween candy.
It didn’t stop there, though. It seemed like right away, Christmas music began blasting everywhere.
Even people in my life all began putting up their trees already; friends, old roommates, colleagues, and even my cousin, were all posting online or sending me photos of their trees.
So whatever happened to celebrating one holiday at a time?
I even found myself hopping on the bandwagon of putting up the tree early.
My parents decided that owning my own home for three years in Minnesota meant it was time to send me my Christmas ornaments from Rhode Island.
The large box of ornaments has been on my dining room floor since the weekend, Perfect time to put up the tree. My wife quickly reminded me that we never put up our tree before Thanksgiving, and we weren’t starting now.
At least anecdotally, I feel like people have begun to celebrate holidays like Christmas earlier than normal, although I have admittedly not spent much time researching it.
With that said, as we began a tradition a couple of years ago, my wife and I attended a tree lighting ceremony at a park near our home a couple of weeks ago. A compromise instead of putting up the three before Thanksgiving? Maybe.
This weekend we will be keeping up the tradition of putting up the tree.
Then Chriatmas season will officially begin in my household.
