K-M shines with Beauty and the Beast
The Kasson-Mantorville Schools Drama presents its All-School Musical production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Nov. 1–4 and Nov. 9–11 in the Minnesota WiFi Performing Arts Center at K-M High School.
This classic fairy tale is the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress.
If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his true self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast features music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and a compelling book by Linda Woolverton. This enchanting story will capture your heart and your imagination with its irresistibly classic songs, including “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.” The show features the acting, singing, dancing, and orchestral talents of more than 70 students in grades 3-12, and the backstage talents and dedication of many more students and volunteers. Directed by Melisa Ferris, with musical direction by Andrew Faller, orchestral direction by Tony Boldt, choreography by Kris Thomas, set design by Brett Conrad and Jake Dreher, and produced by Bernie Buehler, the show will play at the KM Performing Arts Center on Nov. 2 and 3 at 7 p.m., Nov. 4 at 2 p.m., Nov. 9 and
10 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
A special Senior Citizens and Student Matinee performance will be given on Thursday, Nov. 1 at noon; tickets for this special performance are available at the door only.
