Dodge County Salvation Army strives to help those in need

It’s that time of year again. Time to give back to those less fortunate.

The Dodge County Salvation Army will kick off its Red Kettle campaign on Nov. 17. The organization’s leadership is hoping to raise $30,000, which they stress will stay in the county.

Some of the locations for the counter Red Kettles are all the Casey’s in Dodge County, MBT Bank in Mantorville, Chaotic Good Brewing in Kasson and Heritage Bank in West Concord.

Locations with Red Kettle ringers will be Hy-Vee, Hardware Hank and Dollar General in Kasson, and Sunshine Foods in Dodge Center.

To mail in a donation, send it to Dodge County Salvation Army, Attention Tanya Young, 906 8th St. NW, Kasson, Minn., 55944. To reach her by phone call 316-390-5368 or by email at tyoung8550@yahoo.com. To register to ring, go to registertoring.com.

The organization will also host events on Dec. 2 in Kasson, Mantorville, West Concord and Dodge Center where they ring bells and serve hot cocoa.

What’s more, the Dodge County Salvation Army is offering a holiday boxed meal for those in need. To receive a meal, go to Kasson’s St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on a Wednesday evening to fill out an intake form. Applications are open this week and go through Dec. 13.

Last year, the Salvation Army provided 70 meals, and aims to do so again this year.

Pick-up time for the meals is Dec. 20 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s.
