K-M superintendent headed to new job in Jackson County
Kasson-Mantorville school superintendent Mark Matuska is leaving the K-M district to become the principal at Central High School in Jackson County.
The Jackson County Central Board of Education officially hired Matuska at a special meeting Tuesday.
In an email letter sent to K-M staff and families Tuesday night, Mastuska said, he would be resigning his position in Kasson-Mantorville and “with this move, Suzy and I will be able to share a lot more time with our family members in the area, and I will be able to help provide more assistance to my siblings with care for our parents. I have been so honored to be the KoMet superintendent for the past dozen years but am also excited for this new venture.”
Matuska said at a Kasson Chamber of Commerce meeting Wednesday that his family is from the area, his parents live about 15 minutes from Jackson, he has other relatives living there, and he and his wife have property in the area.
It will now be the job of the school board to begin the process of hiring a new superintendent. Matuska speculated that the district may hire an interim to fill the position and allow the time for a search for a permanent superintendent.
