Teams that competed included members from the Alumni, Triton Staff, Triton communities EMS volunteers and Triton FFA members. The Staff won the coveted Donkeyball trophy. The event drew 450 people in attendance.

Triton FFA has successful steak feed, donkey basketball, competition season

The past few weeks have been busy for Triton FFA members and their Alumni group. The annual steak feed dinner was hosted on February 25 at Faith Community Church in West Concord. There was great weather, and 520 meals were served. It was great for the members to meet with their sponsors and community members and enjoy a steak dinner together.

A week later the Triton FFA Alumni hosted Dairyland Donkey Basketball at the high school gym on March 4. The sporting event of the year had teams from the FFA members, Alumni members, EMS volunteers in the district and the Triton staff. The staff won the coveted donkey basketball trophy. There were 450 people in attendance!

Triton’s competition season is winding down. Teams competed on March 6 in the ag mechanics and crops contests hosted by Southeast Tech in Winona. The crops team placed third in the region with Caleb Chilson placing sixth individual. Andrew Holtet and Brady Staub rounded out membership of the team. The ag mechanics team consisted of Grady Klankowkski, Beau Klankowski, Tristan Nelson, and Henry McMartin. The team placed fourth in the region and earned a state trip. Tristan Nelson was the first place individual, and Grady Klankowski placed seventh.

The state convention is coming up April 23-25.

Triton FFA members were also scheduled to compete in the Nursey Landscape and Floriculture contest in Harmony and attend the Region 8 Awards night at Dover Eyota High School.

Photo: The Agricultural Economics class at Triton visited with the new CEO of Al Corn to learn about the economics of ethanol. The class was able to take a bus tour of the facilities and had the cost of transportation was covered by a grant by the MN Biofuels Association.
