Electoral College one big mistake
To the Editor:
The Electoral College is one big mistake in the Constitution. It makes the USA a Republic in presidential voting and susceptible to corruption – the president is selected by “electors” from each state and allows for elections of presidents who didn’t win the popular vote, which has happened 5 times in US history. And each was for the corrupted worse.
In the last two (G W Bush and Trump) we got the two worst presidents in US history. Both committed treason, although Geo. W. may not have known. It never has done the job it was intended to do: prevent someone like Trump from being president - a suddenly popular con man and cult leader capable of exciting the ignorant, the delusional and the irrationally angry.
The Republican party has evolved into liars, insurrectionists and treason. The only party goal is to win or steal elections in any way, legal or illegal, spending much time to find every loophole and tactic for cheating instead of working on legislation and programs for the good of the country.
In Trump’s minority election, Fox News, owned by billionaire Australian, Rupert Murdoch, was Trump’s propaganda ministry, and creator of some of his best lies, hell-bent on destroying the USA by getting him elected, why, I don’t know.
Trump’s initial popularity was due largely to his revival of racism, showing we still have a long movement toward that elimination. In the meantime, with today’s Republicans, we could lose democracy and the ability to vote, becoming the Biggest Banana Republic of the Americas.
Here are some quotes from an article by English writer Nate White on why the British don’t like Trump: “Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no humility, no honor, no grace – all of which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.” and “he has never once said anything wry, witty, or even faintly amusing – not once, ever……….Trump is a troll.”
