Doug Hiatt, 76, Owatonna

Doug Hiatt of Owatonna died May 27, 2022, at Owatonna Hospital Emergency Room.

A memorial service was held Friday, June 3, 2022 at Brick–Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna. Friends greeted the family on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Brick – Meger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday. Burial took place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Paul Douglas Hiatt was born May 9, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Paul W. and Constance (Belleli) Hiatt. Doug graduated from Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa in 1964. After high school, Doug enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1964 where he served in the Military Police. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Upon his separation from the Air Force, Doug continued his education by attending Faribault Vo-Tech for drafting.

In 1973, Doug met Phyllis Ahlborn and the couple was married on Oct. 6 of that year. They made their home in Owatonna.

Doug worked for several companies during his career, including Viracon, Owatonna Tool Company and most recently Cybex where he retired after many years of service.

He was a member of the Owatonna Eagles, American Legion, and the Owatonna V.F.W.

His life interests were riding his Harley, attending his grandchildren’s events, hunting, fishing, bowling and camping with his family.

Doug will be remembered by his wife Phyllis, son Travis (Kristi) Hiatt, three step-children Tammy Bennerotte, Tracy Ramer, Teresa Johnson, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his step-son Todd Ramer, his parents, sister Sherri (Hiatt) Powell and brother Daryl Hiatt.
