Byron gymnasts getting stronger

Byron’s girls’ gymnastics team hosted LaCrescent, on Thursday, January 12 with the Byron girls setting a new season best score of 138.6 to LaCresent’s 60.8.

The girls had a strong night with 12 new personal records set between the Varsity and JV squads.

Amber Roble had a very strong night, finishing first in the All-Around, with a season best score of 36.125. Lydia Evans had a solid night in the all-around with a score of 35.075, and teammates Ella Ott and Sophia Mullenbach finished third and fourth with scores of 33.75 and 33.65 respectively.

The team had a good showing on vault, with a very strong vault by Amber Roble, scoring a 9.325 to take first. Lydia Evans also had a nice vault, scoring a 9.0 and took second. Ella Ott put together a good vault, taking third with a score of 8.65. Sophia Mullenbach rounded out the top four scores for the team, with a score of 8.25. On bars, the Byron girls took the top five places. Amber Roble took first with an 8.175 and teammate Lydia Evans was close behind in second with an 8.15. Ella Ott was not far behind in third, with a good score of 8.05. Sophia Mullenbach and Jocie Halfman took fourth and fifth, with scores of 7.7 and 7.575 respectively.

The girls had a great night on beam, with Amber Roble setting a new personal record of 9.575 and she took first. Sophia Mullenbach had a nice beam routine and finished second with an 8.85, and that included a fall. Lydia Evans changed up her routine a bit and finished third with a score of 8.825, while Ella Ott rounded out the top four with a nice score of 8.65. The girls’ combined score tied the school record.

The girls finished the night on the floor, with Byron taking the top five places. Lydia Evans led the way with a score of 9.1, and Amber Roble was close behind in second, with a score of 9.05. Sophia Mullenbach had a solid floor, finishing third with a score of 8.85, and Ella Ott was close behind in fourth, with a score of 8.4. Savannah Byron finished fifth over-all, with a score of 7.9. The Byron girls had a very good night, and the energy was great. Byron will be hosting KMT next Thursday for Senior Night.
