It’s not too late to donate to K-M Care & Share auction

Kasson-Mantorville’s Care & Share auction is fast approaching but it is not too late to make a donation.

The annual Care & Share dinner, silent auction, and live auction is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Kasson-Mantorville High School.

Donations for the auction can be dropped off at K-M Community Education or the Kasson Liquor Store until Nov. 13. On Nov. 14 and 15 they can be dropped off at Kasson-Mantorville High School south entrance doors. Donation times at the school are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday Nov. 14, and beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, the day of the auction.

Cash donations can be dropped off or mailed to Home Federal Bank, 502 Mantorville Ave. South, Kasson, MN 55944, to the attention of Matt Bradford.

Last year the dinner and auction raised $45,000 and organizers are hoping to raise that much, or more, during this year’s event with a fundraising goal of $50,000. They are expecting 200 to 250 people to attend the event. Proceeds go to local families and organizations in need.

“It is a long-standing event that has so many roots in our community,” said Jenny Carrier, community education director at K-M Public Schools and Care and Share vice president and auction co-chair. “It is a way of sharing that Kasson-Mantorville cares about you and we’re here to support each other through hardships or life trials.”

Cost for next week’s event is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The evening’s menu is pasta, salad, bread sticks and dessert. There also are two new events scheduled, a cake walk for adults for $20 and a cookie walk for kids at $5.

Carrier said they are trying to create a family-friendly event where families can come, enjoy the dinner, cookie and cake walks and auctions.

Care and Share connects donors with in-need families and also gives each adopted family a $250 Hy-Vee gift card.

Last year 43 families, including 117 kids, received Christmas gifts and groceries. To adopt a family, visit a Christmas tree at Hardware Hank in Kasson, County Seat in Mantorville and Kasson-Mantorville High School in the commons area.

Care and Share has also donated money to SEMCAC, St. Peter’s Church, Ready Set Learn, K-M Elementary Snack Cart Program, SEMCAC Food Shelf, Food for Friends, K-M School Challenge Fund, Faith in Action, Dodge County Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program and Dodge County Sheriff’s Chaplain Program.
