Crews battle fire at Kasson business Sunday night
Firefighters from several area communities responded to a fire in Kasson Sunday. The fire erupted Sunday night at 20 East Veterans Memorial Highway in Kasson.
At about 7:35 p.m., Kasson Fire along with Byron Fire, Dodge Center Fire and Mantorville Fire were all paged to a structure fire. The shed was home to Borgstrom Electric and a cleaning business called Nooks and Crannies.
Upon arrival, rescue crews were notified by staff with the Kasson Police Department that all the property owners were accounted for and that the south end of the building had fallen in.
Crews worked hard to put the shed fire out, said Kasson Fire Chief Joe Fitch. At 1:50 a.m. they cleared the scene.
Two firefighters were checked out by Dodge Center Ambulance but were not transported. There were no other reported injuries at the time.
Kasson Police Department and the Dodge County Sheriff helped secure the scene.
As of Monday, there was no official cause of the fire but the wood boiler in the southeast end of the building is what is thought to have started the fire, Fitch said. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
The property had several businesses and personal property of people that is all a total loss.
