A car crash in Mantorville Township has claimed one life.

Breaking News: Dodge County crash kills Owatonna man

A Sunday morning crash in Dodge County has taken the life of a Steele County man.

The State Patrol has identified the victim as Mark Douglas Johnson, 58, of Owatonna. He was driving a 2014 Honda Accord that was traveling eastbound on Dodge County Road 16. Johnson’s vehicle collided with a Chevrolet Avalanche traveling northbound on Highway 57 in Mantorville Township. The crash was reported at 11:20 a.m.

The Chevy was driven by Bradley Herman Schmidt, 54, of Hayfield. There were two other passengers in the vehicle with Schmidt: Mary Kay Schmidt, 58, and Danielle Kaye Schmidt, 20. All were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the patrol, all people involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts and no alcohol was involved. The road was wet at the time.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Kasson Police assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
